Vision

“To reach out, welcome in and build up for Christ.”

Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16 v 18).
At Southside, we believe that He is still in the process of building His church and our task is to be willing and obedient co-workers with Him.

Our mission statement states quite clearly what we believe God would want us to do and how we should be moving forward as a church.

At Southside we work hard at making everyone feel welcome. People tell us that when they visit occasionally or when they come looking for a church, they find the welcome given to them, one of the most important aspects of church.

Since the church began in 1991 we have also made a clear focus on building people up in their faith with relevant and specific bible teaching. This happens in various ways and at various times, whether at a Sunday morning service, midweek cell group, discipleship course or via one to one mentoring. We believe all of us are in the process of learning more about the bible and how it should be applied to our lives on a daily basis and that’s why we major on being built up in our faith.

In recent days we have found areas where we can fulfil the other part of the mission statement which is to reach out. At this time Southside are involved in a whole variety of activities aimed specifically at reaching people with the love of Jesus. These include regular visits to a homeless hostel, a fully equipped double decker bus, giving starter packs to people with addictions, regular sports activities, as well as many other projects aimed deliberately at reaching the community.

The vision of Southside is to be a church in the community for the community and to use all means possible to achieve that.
